Copper Red Shino Chawan

Copper red shino is another thing that isn’t a thing in the sense that no such glaze on a shino chawan exists in tradition. This combination came about from play. I was glazing some pots copper red, and some shino, and wondered if I were to glaze a pot copper red and pour my traditional shino over—treating the copper red like a flashing slip—would something interesting happen. Would the copper red stay red? Would the chemistry go nuts and give me blisters or something worse? Somewhat surprisingly, it behaved almost exactly as I hoped it might, with the parts covered in the shino going paler red to white where thickest. Very non-traditional. But not uninteresting.
