Shino Chawan with Box

As I’ve started wanting to share my pots with others, and given my infinite curious for Japanese crafts, we’ve started making tomobako or wooden boxes for some of my favorite tea bowls. We have our own sanada-himo cord, brought back from Kyoto, for tying the boxes. And while not shown here, I have my own traditional stamp for these boxes. In this particular box is a shino chawan with orange flashing slip under a traditional shino glaze. The pot is thrown from a grogged porcelain, and fired to Cone 12 in reduction in a wood kiln.
