Wood-fired Faceted Chawan
This bowl was thrown from a high iron clay body and faceted after leather hard. The inside is lined with a traditional shino glaze, and the outside is completely unglazed. Fired to Cone 12 in reduction in a wood firing, the wood ash and soda added at the end of the firing form the glaze on the ouside of this pot which highlights the facets, and has given us a few interesting things to look at. There is some roughness in the bottom of the pot where some gunk from the wood firing has fallen into and settled in the pot.
